He\u2019s got a city to keep safe and has no comment on this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson from the mayor\u2019s office sent the following statement: \u201cTo protect confidentiality and the integrity of the process, the City will not comment on an active investigation. The mayor has deep respect for city employees and regrets any unintended impact her actions may have had.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mark Ross, the president of the St. Paul Police Federation, stated:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur obligation is to our membership and the focus of the Federation will remain on supporting the rank-and-file members who are out in the community risking their lives everyday. I am not in a position to elaborate further on this situation, but I do want the community to rest assured that our focus is on serving them with the commitment, class, and integrity that they\u2019ve come to expect and deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen=\"\" class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/40Imb4PJsmY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"281\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" title=\"St  Paul police chief files sexual harassment complaint against Mayor Kaohly Her\" width=\"500\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Her served in the Minnesota House of Representatives as a DFL member from 2019 to 2025 before being elected mayor.<\/p>\n<p>During her time in the House, Her supported legislation to give driver\u2019s licenses to illegal aliens and opposed a measure that revoked adult illegal aliens\u2019 access to MinnesotaCare, a state-run healthcare program, according to Alpha News. My parents are illegal here in this country.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Her, who was born in Laos, made the stunning comments during a House floor debate where she shared how her family came to America.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing her fellow lawmakers, the DFLer appeared to admit that her father, who worked at a U.S. consulate in southeast Asia, forged documents to get his family to America. Her said she had just recently learned that information and told the chamber, \u201cMy family broke the law to come here.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Following a backlash,\u00a0 Her issued a statement walking back her comments, alleging she is a citizen after all, as are her parents, and her family \u201ccame legally as refugees of the Vietnam War.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am legal,\u201d she insisted.<\/p>\n<p>Her, who describes herself as a \u201cDemocrat through and through,\u201d has been vocal in her opposition to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in St. Paul, particularly regarding the federal \u201cOperation Metro Surge\u201d that began in late 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Her administration quickly initiated policies to limit ICE\u2019s operational capacity within the city. In February 2026, she signed an ordinance prohibiting ICE agents from staging or conducting operational activities on city-owned property, including parks, libraries, and service centers. This move was an effort to codify previous cease-and-desist directives in response to what she termed a \u201csiege\u201d on the city by federal agents.<\/p>\n<p>As ICE conducted operations throughout the Twin Cities, agents were met with violent, state-sanctioned resistance, leading to the fatal shootings of two anti-ICE agitators.<\/p>\n<p>As part of an investigation into whether Walz and other officials obstructed or impeded law enforcement actions, the U.S. Department of Justice in January issued subpoenas seeking records to the offices of Her, Governor Tim Walz (DFL), Attorney General Keith Ellison (DFL), Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (DFL), and local officials.<\/p>\n<p>A federal judge last month blocked the subpoenas, accusing the Justice Department of using its investigatory powers to retaliate against state officials for not cooperating with President Trump\u2019s deportation effort.<\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department has indicated it will continue reviewing obstruction matters in compliance with the law, with no publicly reported charges or any other developments as of late July 2026.<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/urbaneconomynews.com\/?p=1235\">Morning Greatness: Senate to Move on Russia Sanctions Bill Named After Sen.
