A DSA-backed radical Islamist has won the Michigan Democrat Senate primary, narrowly defeating incumbent Representative Haley Stevens.<\/p>

Abdul El-Sayed, a far-left former public health official, secured the nomination by fewer than 15,000 votes, with final counts showing him at approximately 48.5 percent to Stevens\u2019 47.5 percent.<\/p>\n

The Associated Press and major news networks projected his victory Wednesday morning, marking a significant upset for the Democrat establishment, which had united against him.<\/p>\n

The Michigan Senate seat shifted from lean Democrat to a toss-up after incumbent Democrat Senator Gary Peters announced in January 2025 that he would not seek re-election. Political prognosticators now say El Sayed\u2019s big win has provided Republican Mike Rogers additional momentum to flip the seat.<\/p>\n

An last week showed Rogers handily beating El-Sayed 46 percent to 43 percent.<\/p>\n

In a post on Truth Social Wednesday, President Trump said El-Sayed\u2019s victory was\u00a0\u201cGreat news for the Republican Party.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEl-Sayed, a Communist loser who hates Jews and Israel, is the projected winner in his race with the Socialist,\u201d Trump stated. \u201cAs usual, the Polls were way off on this one. She was not expected to do nearly as well as she did. Now, the Dumocrats crazy policies will only get worse!\u201d<\/p>\n

In the past month, El-Sayed\u2019s radical positions and comments have been highlighted on social media to warn the public.<\/p>\n

El-Sayed\u2019s remarks at a Council on American\u2013Islamic Relations (CAIR) banquet in Edmond, Oklahoma, where he denounced efforts to curtail sharia law in the United States, was shared by anti-Islam activist Amy Mek on X.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou cannot understand a ban on Sharia without understanding the Trail of Tears,\u201d he declared during his speech at the March 2020 conference.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou cannot understand efforts against Muslim Americans without understanding the Tulsa Massacre,\u201d El-Sayed added. \u201cYou cannot understand the challenges Muslims face today without understanding \u2018white supremacy.\u2019\u201d<\/p>

\u201cHe looked at Oklahoma voters who rejected Islamic law in American courts and equated them with the people who drove Native Americans off their land, burned Black Wall Street, and bombed a federal building,\u201d said Mek. \u201cHe called resistance to Sharia the same historical force of racism and hatred,\u201d she added, calling his address \u201clinguistic jihad.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rogers, a former FBI agent who served as the U.S. representative for Michigan\u2019s 8th congressional district from 2001 to 2015, released a statement on El-Sayed\u2019s win.<\/p>\n

\u201cI spent years hunting terrorists and bringing Osama bin Laden to justice. Never in a million years did I think that I would be running against someone who believes America deserved 9\/11,\u201d Rogers stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbdul doesn\u2019t represent a vision for the future. He\u2019s leading a movement grounded in ideological fanaticism. His agenda would make our communities less safe and our state less affordable.\u201d<\/p>\n

He wants to empty prisons and put murderers and sex offenders back on our streets. He pledged his support to the Muslim Brotherhood and campaigns with people who refuse to condemn terrorism. And, he advocated for the largest tax hike in American history \u2014 costing families already struggling to make ends meet over $3000 more per year.\u201d<\/p>\n

While El-Sayed has sought to distance himself from Democrat Socialism, a Fox News analysis of his platform found that his agenda is identical to the DSA\u2019s.<\/p>\n
