Gutierrez said the human error affected approximately 15,000 absentee ballots.<\/p>\n<p><iframe allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen=\"\" class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4bxb9bbyvCE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"281\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" title=\"Human error delays Milwaukee primary election results\" width=\"500\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Officials were forced to return to the Bay View central count facility with a police escort to re-download the correct results from the five machines. The mistake delayed the final tally for the Wisconsin Democratic gubernatorial primary by more than an hour, pushing the announcement of David Crowley\u2019s narrow victory over Francesca Hong into the early morning hours.<\/p>\n<p>NBC News\u2019 election guru Steve Kornacki was unable to conceal his shock on the air when he heard the news.<\/p>\n<p><iframe allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen=\"\" class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/T7_LeIjTBas?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"281\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" title=\"Wisconsin\u2019s Missing USB Drives Could Flip the Governor\u2019s Race \u2014 Kornacki Knew and Stayed Silent\" width=\"500\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The incident is just the latest in a series of eye-brow-raising issues that have led to distrust in Milwaukee\u2019s elections.<\/p>\n<p>After the 2020 election, \u00a0investigators discovered scores of developmentally disabled adults in the city were forced by nursing home staffers to vote for Biden.<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/urbaneconomynews.com\/?p=1468\">State Department Revokes Over 175,000 Visas of Foreign Nationals Accused of Crimes<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In November 2024, more than 30,000 absentee ballots reportedly had to be retabulated after officials discovered the doors on 13 ballot tabulators had not been properly secured.<\/p>\n<p>Five months later, during the April 2025 Wisconsin Supreme Court election, \u201c69 of Milwaukee\u2019s 180 polling locations experienced ballot shortages, and nine locations ran out completely,\u201d WISN 12 News reported.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple polls had shown Hong to be the heavy favorite to win the primary, leading Crowley by double digits.<\/p>\n<p>After his upset victory Tuesday night, Crowley, allegedly a moderate Democrat, will now face incumbent Republican Rep.
