{"id":1640,"date":"2026-08-23T17:08:07","date_gmt":"2026-08-23T17:08:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/urbaneconomynews.com\/?p=1640"},"modified":"2026-08-23T17:08:07","modified_gmt":"2026-08-23T17:08:07","slug":"federal-prosecutors-charge-chinese-national-with-voter-fraud-in-2024-u-s-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/urbaneconomynews.com\/?p=1640","title":{"rendered":"Federal Prosecutors Charge Chinese National With Voter Fraud in 2024 U.S. Election"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>A Chinese national has been charged by the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office with submitting a fraudulent online voter registration in which he impersonated another Chinese national living in Massachusetts.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/urbaneconomynews.com\/?p=1638\">The Cowardice of Dobbs<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Breitbart reports that Yupeng Sun, a resident of Andover, Massachusetts, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with submitting a fraudulent voter registration and ballot during the 2024 presidential election.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\ud83d\udea8 BREAKING \ud83d\udea8Chinese national arrested for allegedly casting a fraudulent ballot in the 2024 presidential election by impersonating a lawful permanent resident \u2014 then reporting the victim to federal authorities for \u201cillegally\u201d voting.<\/p>\n<p>The 33-year-old Andover resident also\u2026 pic.twitter.com\/uttz1Gdgif<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 U.S. Attorney Massachusetts (@DMAnews1) August 19, 2026<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nThe investigation was led by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement\u2019s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), according to a press release from the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS).<\/p>\n<p>According to court filings, Sun submitted an online voter registration in Massachusetts on October 10, 2024, impersonating another Chinese national residing in the state who had legal permanent resident (LPR) status.<\/p>\n<p>Sun reportedly then submitted an early voting ballot at Malden City Hall for the 2024 presidential election on October 31, while still impersonating the victim.<\/p>\n<p>Breitbart reports that Sun also submitted several anonymous tips to HSI and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) accusing the victim he was impersonating of \u201cillegally voting in the 2024 U.S. presidential election\u201d and stating that his victim \u201cis not a U.S. citizen but a permanent resident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/urbaneconomynews.com\/?p=1636\">As Goes Florida?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He is also accused of impersonating the victim and the victim\u2019s wife in April 2024 when he submitted fraudulent forms to USCIS requesting to abandon their Legal Permanent Resident status, according to the DHS press release.<\/p>\n<p>This resulted in the victim and his wife, also a Chinese national, being placed into removal proceedings in June 2024 after returning from an international trip, according to Breitbart.<\/p>\n<p>NBC News in Boston reports that Sun\u2019s victim and his wife \u201csuccessfully petitioned the Boston Immigration Court to restore their green cards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the DHS press release, Secretary Markwayne Mullin said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>This criminal illegal alien allegedly committed\u00a0voter fraud so he could vote in the 2024 presidential election. The charges in this case are the result of the hard work of the men and women of HSI and our federal partners. Election security is national security.
