President Trump on Tuesday ordered flags to be lowered throughout the United States for one week to honor country music legend Dolly Parton after her passing.<\/p>\n

Dolly Parton died Tuesday at the age of 80, according to a family announcement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a true loss for millions of people. There has never been anyone like her, and never will,\u201d Trump posted on Truth Social. \u201cRest in Peace, Dolly! The World loves you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Parton passed away peacefully in Nashville, Tennessee, following recent health struggles that reportedly included kidney stones and issues with her immune and digestive systems.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn her honor, I am lowering the American flag throughout the United States for a one week period beginning tonight at 6:00PM,\u201d Trump stated.<\/p>\n

Parton reportedly missed a Grand Ole Opry Show honoring her 80th birthday in January due to her declining health, but as of last week, she still had big plans.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeriously, though, even though I\u2019m still healin\u2019, I\u2019m still workin\u2019! You know me \u2014 as I\u2019ve often said \u2014 I\u2019ve dreamed myself into a corner and I still have so many things I want to achieve, so I\u2019m gonna keep on working as long as I can to see everything come to life,\u201d she told People<\/em> on August 21.<\/p>\n

Parton was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Thomas Dean, who passed away in March 2025.<\/p>\n

Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, revealed the news in a video message shared on social media, stating that Parton asked him to announce her death on video years ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs her head of her security for more than two decades, a role my father Larry held before me, I have imagined the heaviness of this moment, but haven\u2019t truly felt it until now,\u201d Seaver stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is an honor, an honor that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness, but sadness lies with us\u2014not with Dolly,\u201d Seaver said.\u00a0 \u201cDolly has lived in the light and is in the arms of Jesus, surely met by Carl, her parents, and countless others who have watched her and longed for her to meet with them in the heavens.\u201d<\/p>\n
