Sen. Darline Graham won South Carolina\u2019s Republican Senate runoff Tuesday, defeating Rep. Ralph Norman and handing President Donald Trump another victory for his endorsed candidate.<\/p>\n

The Associated Press called the race for Graham, who is seeking a full term in the seat previously held by her late brother, longtime Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham.<\/p>\n

Graham, 62, will face Democrat Annie Andrews in November and enters the general election as the favorite in heavily Republican South Carolina. Democrats have not won a U.S. Senate race in the state since 1998.<\/p>\n

The victory also demonstrates Trump\u2019s continued influence among Republican primary voters. He endorsed Graham and traveled to South Carolina on Friday to campaign alongside her.<\/p>\n

MAGA Inc., a pro-Trump super PAC, spent more than $827,000 on calls and text messages supporting Graham in the closing days of the runoff, according to Federal Election Commission reports.<\/p>\n

Graham entered the race July 20, shortly after Republican Gov. Henry McMaster appointed her to temporarily fill the vacancy created by her brother\u2019s death. The appointment marked her first time holding elected office.<\/p>\n

Graham and Norman finished first and second in the Aug. 11 primary but were forced into a runoff after neither received a majority.<\/p>\n

Norman, 73, a vice chairman of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, argued that Republican voters should choose a candidate with an established conservative record rather than rely on Trump\u2019s endorsement or the Graham family name.<\/p>\n

Graham faced criticism after acknowledging during a runoff debate that she was \u201cnot that informed on national security\u201d while answering a question about U.S. policy toward Taiwan.<\/p>\n

Norman seized on the remark, writing on X that South Carolina deserved a senator who understands foreign policy and declaring himself a supporter of \u201cPEACE THROUGH STRENGTH.\u201d<\/p>\n

The candidates and their allies spent heavily in the abbreviated contest. More than $5 million was spent on advertising during the primary and runoff, according to AdImpact.<\/p>\n

Graham\u2019s campaign emphasized her alliance with Trump, while Norman portrayed himself as the race\u2019s proven conservative.<\/p>\n
