The father of a 5-year-old girl who was permanently disabled by an illegal alien who caused a multi-car crash two years ago, lambasted Democrats to their faces during a House hearing Tuesday, telling them he rejected their eleventh-hour expressions of sympathy as disingenuous.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no way you guys are sorry,\u201d the father, Marcus Coleman, told Democrat lawmakers on the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement.<\/p>\n

The comments came during an emotional hearing, titled \u201cSanctuary Policies, Tragic Consequences\u201d examining \u201chow sanctuary policies, specifically in California, Colorado, and Maryland, endanger communities by putting the interests of criminal aliens ahead of the interests of Americans.\u201d<\/p>\n

The witnesses included Patricia Fox, Mother of Carissa \u201cLuu\u201d Aspnes, who was permanently disabled after a hit-and-run crash in Colorado involving an illegal alien from Venezuela, Jeffrey Gahler, Sheriff of Harford County, Maryland, who is a plaintiff in a lawsuit challenging Maryland\u2019s recently enacted sanctuary law, and Coleman, Father of Dalilah Coleman, who was permanently disabled in California after an illegal alien caused a multi-car crash in June 2024. The accident left Dalilah nonverbal and relearning how to walk.<\/p>\n

According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the multicar pileup was caused by Partap Singh, an illegal alien from India, who had driven recklessly through a traffic and construction zone.<\/p>\n

Daliliah suffered a broken femur and skull fractures, and was subsequently diagnosed with diplegic cerebral palsy, a global developmental delay that requires lifelong therapy.<\/p>\n

Her father, Marcus Coleman argued that sanctuary policies in states like California allowed individuals without legal status to obtain Commercial Driver\u2019s Licenses (CDLs), directly leading to his daughter\u2019s permanent disability and his family\u2019s financial hardship as he now supports nine children without his previous trucking income.<\/p>\n

His testimony highlighted the legislative push for \u201cDalilah\u2019s Law,\u201d a bill introduced by Rep. David Rouzer (R-NC) and championed by President Donald Trump during the State of the Union address. The legislation aims to bar states from issuing commercial drivers licenses (CDLs) to undocumented immigrants and requires English proficiency standards for commercial drivers. Coleman also noted that the Trump administration had recently revoked approximately 20,000 illegal CDLs and shut down 270 fraudulent truck-driving schools.<\/p>\n

Coleman put the blame squarely on the Democrats in the room for the open border policies that have led to the suffering of so many families, including his own.<\/p>\n

Gesturing toward his now 7-year-old daughter, Coleman asked: \u201chow are you guys not fighting for this?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI reject you guys\u2019 sympathy to be honest. There\u2019s no way you guys are sorry,\u201d he added with disgust, as the camera panned on several Judiciary Committee Democrats. \u201cNot one of you guys have ever called me. Not one of you guys have ever reached out to me. Not one of you guys have seen me in the hallways and said, \u2018hey, I\u2019m sorry about your daughter,’\u201d Coleman continued. \u201cYou guys do that right here while you are grandstanding on top of your soapbox. This is when you guys care. Right here inside this room is the only time you guys care.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coleman reiterated that he had not heard from a single congressional Democrat about anything at all and continued roasting them to their faces.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou guys have no pathway to anything. You want to sit there and talk about a \u2018pathway to citizenship,\u2019 there is a pathway\u2014it\u2019s not jump the fence and apply. That\u2019s not the way it is,\u201d Coleman said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t go inside a hospital and become a doctor just because I want to, he continued. \u201cIt\u2019s getting ridiculous the way things are going now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coleman compared Sanctuary City lawlessness to a home where there are no parents around to control the household where \u201ceverybody\u2019s running around doing whatever they want to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd it sucks. It really does,\u201d the father added. \u201cMy daughter doesn\u2019t deserve any of this. She didn\u2019t ask for this.\u201d<\/p>\n
