Earlier this month, we learned that 11 activists with the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) had pledged their loyalty to the Chinese Communist Party.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0reporting from the\u00a0Times<\/em>\u00a0of London, the\u00a0DSA apparatchiks\u00a0signed an online petition pledging to \u201csupport the People\u2019s Republic of China and to promote understanding of Chinese socialism.\u201d<\/p>\n

The petition goes on to declare that \u201cThe continued survival of Chinese socialism is a crucial matter not only for the Chinese people but for all humanity.\u201d The humanity in Hong Kong and Taiwan might have something to say about that, to say nothing of the Muslim Uighurs suffering in concentration camps in western China.<\/p>\n

Those who signed the statement are the same socialists who helped elect Zohran Mamdani in New York. They\u2019re the same DSA activists who are now taking over the Democrat Party.<\/p>\n

And\u00a0they\u2019re\u00a0making\u00a0it\u00a0all too\u00a0clear\u00a0they love China more than America.<\/p>\n

Much has been made about the DSA\u2019s affinity for Hamas. But in a world increasingly defined by competition between the U.S. and Beijing, its appreciation of China could prove\u00a0far\u00a0more dangerous.<\/p>\n

The most visible democratic socialist at large today is Hasan Piker, the dimwitted,\u00a0very online political commentator. Piker is known for his hatred of Israel, but\u00a0his\u00a0positions on China\u00a0are just as controversial.<\/p>\n

According to a\u00a0deep-dive article by Jeremiah Johnson, Piker has \u201cdownplayed the genocide in Xinjiang, recasting the concentration camps there as\u00a0\u2018reeducation\u2019\u00a0centers\u201d and falsely claimed\u00a0they\u2019re\u00a0all shut down.\u00a0He\u2019s\u00a0also\u202f\u201cdescribed\u202fChinese colonialism in Tibet as a good thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

These\u00a0aren\u2019t\u00a0arguments for a particular foreign policy\u00a0stance\u00a0toward China;\u00a0they\u2019re\u00a0talking points\u00a0for the Chinese Communist Party. Hasan has\u00a0pointed to China\u00a0as the\u00a0beau ideal<\/em>\u00a0for his conception of socialism, which should show just how \u201cdemocratic\u201d\u00a0the\u00a0democratic socialists\u00a0really\u00a0are.<\/p>\n

The DSA candidates\u00a0running for\u00a0public office\u00a0won\u2019t\u00a0go quite this far (though most of them are endorsed by Piker and refuse to condemn him).\u00a0But\u00a0every once in a while, the mask slips.<\/p>\n

Take, for example, Francesca Hong, who recently lost\u2014by less than half a percent\u2014her bid to be the Democratic gubernatorial candidate in Wisconsin. Fresh off demanding that Thanksgiving be canceled\u00a0because\u00a0Squanto was a victim of colonialism, she\u00a0sent a since-deleted tweet\u00a0denouncing\u00a0\u201cfear and anger against an inflated anti-china\u00a0[sic] threat.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before he dropped out of the Maine Senate race\u00a0over an alleged sexual assault, far-left Democrat Graham Platner\u00a0declared, \u201cI think our position towards China should be one of cooperation instead of one of opposition.\u201d Why? The need to \u201cfight challenges like climate change.\u201d<\/p>\n

At best, the elected socialists don\u2019t seem to know what they should say about China. At the Munich Security Conference (which must have felt like a fifth-grader finding herself in a college calculus course), Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was asked whether the U.S. should protect Taiwan if China invaded. She gave such a rambling, incoherent answer that\u00a0some speculated it would end\u00a0any hope she had\u00a0of a 2028 presidential bid.<\/p>\n

In any sane world, that would be true. Sadly, it is not in today\u2019s Democrat Party. Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s weakness and incoherence toward China is not a bug but a feature.<\/p>\n

China, more than any other issue,\u00a0shows just how unequipped these DSA delusionists are to govern. As members of Congress, even as governors,\u00a0they\u2019ll\u00a0need to make decisions about China\u2019s growing\u00a0influence\u00a0around\u00a0the world.<\/p>\n

Will they support President Trump\u2019s tariffs that are\u00a0checking China\u2019s\u00a0economic\u00a0expansion?<\/p>\n

Will they\u00a0back policies to\u00a0counter\u00a0its tech sector, which engages in rampant intellectual property theft\u00a0and espionage?\u00a0Like the\u00a0recently approved\u00a0merger between Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Juniper Networks, whose new, globally scaled\u00a0company can compete with\u00a0the Chinese giant\u00a0Huawei?<\/p>\n

Will they support America\u2019s semiconductor and car and solar industries over China\u2019s, even if that means siding with\u2014shudder\u2014capitalism<\/em>?<\/p>\n

Will they condemn\u2014a blazingly simple moral judgment\u2014China\u2019s genocide of the Uighurs or squashing of the sovereign government in Hong Kong or menacing of Taiwan?<\/p>\n

China exposes just how unserious the socialists are. They denounce ICE \u201cconcentration camps\u201d while making excuses for actual concentration camps in China. They upbraid American \u201ccolonialism\u201d while explicitly praising Chinese colonization.<\/p>\n

They claim socialism can coexist with democracy and then\u00a0take\u00a0as their Polaris the most\u00a0authoritarian state in existence today.<\/p>\n

Another of the \u201cdemocratic\u201d socialists is Eric Hovagim, who once produced videos for Mamdani and Piker. Today, he lives in China where he\u00a0regularly praises the CCP\u00a0and denounces the U.S.<\/p>\n

At some point,\u00a0this\u00a0ceases to be\u00a0a coincidence\u2014or the seemingly casual passing of a few strangers in the \u201cbig tent\u201d of the Democrat Party. For those of us who\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0want to live in a Chinese world, stopping the socialists\u00a0closer to\u00a0home should be our\u00a0first priority.<\/p>\n
