True, today our political campaigns seem perpetual, but indulge me in my harkening to a more distant, if not necessarily better, electoral tradition. This makes sense, due to the slipshod manner in which Michigan Democrats have run the Great Lakes State for the past eight years. No wonder their increasingly radicalized party wants a message sent anywhere but to the Lansing Democrats\u2014i.e., themselves.<\/p>\n<p>By importuning the electorate to vote for their radical leftist candidates, the message Michigan Democrats want to send Trump is what, exactly? That Michiganians reward failure at the state level? That Michiganians want to remain lagging behind other states and continue sliding down to a rock-bottom ranking in a host of critical categories?<\/p>\n<p>In case anyone needs reminding, former two-term Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox and recent candidate for governor posted on X a litany of Michigan Democrats\u2019 governing failures. Citing a quote by outgoing Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer alleging that \u201cIf John James or Mike Rogers win in November, they\u2019ll reverse the progress we\u2019ve made over the past eight years,\u201d Mr. Cox then revealed how Michigan Democrats measured \u201cprogress.\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>40 percent of Michigan households are struggling financially<\/li>\n<li>Michigan\u2019s number of Fortune 500 companies dropped from 30 to 13<\/li>\n<li>This despite the fact Michigan ranked second in the Midwest for corporate handouts ($5 billion\u2013$7 billion spent)<\/li>\n<li>Michigan has the 11th-worst per capita personal income in the nation<\/li>\n<li>Michigan\u2019s workforce shrank by 124,000 over the last year, including a net loss of 48,000 manufacturing jobs<\/li>\n<li>Meanwhile, of the 20,595 subsidized jobs promised, only 602 were delivered<\/li>\n<li>But the state budget has bloated by 45 percent, and 2,700 ghost employees needed to be cut from the 2026 state budget<\/li>\n<li>Michigan has the 11th-highest violent crime rate in the nation<\/li>\n<li>30,000\u201350,000 acres of fertile farmland converted to solar\/battery\/data centers<\/li>\n<li>Yet residents are paying $350\u2013$500 more annually for unreliable energy<\/li>\n<li>One out of every three miles of Michigan roads is in poor condition<\/li>\n<li>Even though Michigan has the 6th-highest gas tax in the nation and spent $31 billion<\/li>\n<li>Further, the state\u2019s structurally deficient bridges rank 43rd in the country<\/li>\n<li>Michigan has the highest auto insurance rates in the country<\/li>\n<li>In education, fewer than 25 percent of 4th graders and 65 percent of Michigan 12th graders are proficient in reading<\/li>\n<li>But somehow 84 percent graduate high school<\/li>\n<li>Michigan suffers an annual loss of 5,000\u20136,000 college graduates exiting the state<\/li>\n<li>And, overall, it is the 6th-worst state for education in the nation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The bottom line, per Mr. Cox? \u201cMichigan is a bottom ten state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These facts are stubborn things, but they can be redressed. Michigan\u2019s moderate Democrats are verging on extinction. So, if you\u2019re a Michigan voter who prefers a moderate Democrat candidate, the best thing you can do for them is hasten a party intervention by voting Republican.<\/p>\n<p>Charity begins at home, and so does good government.
