Over the weekend President Donald Trump nominated Oklahoma law enforcement officer Lance Schroyer to serve as the next director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, selecting a veteran officer to lead the agency as the administration intensifies its immigration enforcement agenda.<\/p>\n

In a post on Truth Social, Trump described Schroyer as \u201ca PATRIOT with real operational experience\u201d and praised his nearly three decades in law enforcement.<\/p>\n

The president said Schroyer has served as an Oklahoma state trooper, a Marine and a leader of partnerships between local law enforcement and ICE through the agency\u2019s 287(g) program.<\/p>\n

Trump called Schroyer \u201ca proven leader with DECADES of experience locking up the worst of the worst\u201d and said he \u201chas what it takes to DETAIN AND DEPORT Illegal Alien Criminals.\u201d<\/p>\n

The president also urged the Senate to \u201cCONFIRM Lance, IMMEDIATELY.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the administration, ICE has shifted away from some of the high-profile enforcement tactics associated with former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem while continuing to prioritize deportations.<\/p>\n

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin praised Trump\u2019s selection, describing Schroyer as an experienced law enforcement official.<\/p>\n

President Trump has nominated Lance Schroyer to serve as the ICE Director.<\/p>\n

With over 29 years of law enforcement experience, Lance will play a vital role in helping deliver on the President\u2019s mandate from the American people to target, arrest, and deport illegal aliens.<\/p>\n

Mullin said Schroyer is \u201ccoming straight from the operational field\u201d after leading large-scale enforcement efforts with state and federal partners in Oklahoma. He added that Schroyer\u2019s experience would help ICE \u201ctarget, arrest, and deport illegal aliens.\u201d<\/p>\n

If confirmed, Schroyer would replace acting ICE Director David Venturella, who has led the agency since May 2026 following the retirement of former ICE chief Todd Lyons.<\/p>\n

Venturella, a close ally of border czar Tom Homan, will continue serving as acting director until the Senate acts on Schroyer\u2019s nomination.<\/p>\n

If confirmed, Schroyer would become the first Senate-confirmed ICE director since Sarah Salda\u00f1a was confirmed in 2014, ending an 11-year period during which the agency has been led by acting directors.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been 11 years since DHS has had a Senate confirmed ICE Director,\u201d Mullin wrote Saturday. \u201cThe Senate must quickly confirm Lance Schroyer.\u201d<\/p>\n
