Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), who frequently denounces billionaires and \u2018oligarchs,\u2019 lives a life of \u201cstaggering luxury\u201d due to his wife\u2019s inherited wealth, the Washington Free Beacon <\/em>reported on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Khanna has recently emerged as a potential contender for the Democrat presidential nomination, ironically positioning himself as a left-wing populist concerned about economic inequality and fighting the ultra rich.<\/p>\n

But according to the Beacon\u2019s<\/em> investigation, the Khanna family\u2019s wealth is protected by the same sort of \u201ctrusts, anonymous corporations, and foundations\u201d he regularly condemns.<\/p>\n

Last week, after socialist candidates scored major victories in New York\u2019s Democrat primaries, Khanna celebrated online and warned ultra-wealthy billionaires to prepare for a fight.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur message to the oligarchs: bring it on,\u201d Khanna wrote on X. \u201cAfter last nights decisive wins, have a new, strong, bold Democratic party.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cProgressives are the future,\u201d he stated. \u201cNo war, no genocide, no oligarchs, and yes to Medicare for All.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the Free Beacon\u2019s<\/em> stunning expos\u00e9, Khanna, his wife, Ritu Ahuja Khanna, and their two children live in an 8,000-square-foot luxury home in Northwest Washington, D.C., purchased in 2020 for $3.15 million via one of her trusts.<\/p>\n

It was listed for sale in June 2026 for over $6 million. The mansion features include a four-story in-home elevator and extensive premium marble throughout, including in the two laundry rooms.<\/p>\n

The family is reportedly moving to a larger, more expensive custom-built home in McLean, Virginia, an affluent D.C. suburb where the children attend an elite private school. That mansion was purchased for around $10 million through an LLC linked to the family\u2019s network.<\/p>\n

In late 2024, Ritu Khanna, according to the report, bought a new luxury Range Rover SUV for $190,000, exceeding Khanna\u2019s congressional salary of $174,000.<\/p>\n

She later sued the dealer under D.C.\u2019s Lemon Law, claiming it was irreparable; the case settled with Jaguar Land Rover for an undisclosed amount.<\/p>\n

Khanna\u2019s two young children meanwhile hold large ownership shares in three private Cleveland-area golf clubs: Barrington Golf Club (Aurora, OH), Sand Ridge Golf Club (near Chardon, OH) and Mayfield Country Club (South Euclid, OH).<\/p>\n

The kids also own a significant stake in a $65 billion wealth management firm, \u201cand investments in hedge funds that focus on distressed debt, of which Khanna has been critical,\u201d according to the Beacon.<\/em><\/p>\n

The family\u2019s lavish lifestyle is attributed to Khanna\u2019s father-in-law, Monte Ahuja, \u201can Indian-born, Cleveland auto parts magnate turned investor and philanthropist.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ahuja, the founder of Transtar Industries and Mura Holdings, has described golf investments as a passion.<\/p>\n

The children have reported significant unearned income from the golf courses, with stakes valued at over $1 million each.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Khanna reported in 2024 \u201cthey own between $26 million and more than $73 million in irrevocable trusts, a wealth transfer vehicle that could shield them from future inheritance taxes,\u201d according to the Beacon.<\/em><\/p>\n

Like many of the global ultra-rich with generational wealth, Ahuja has set up various trusts and other financial models to benefit his children and grandchildren. These complex financial structures are deliberately opaque, but Khanna, as a member of Congress, is legally required to disclose his family\u2019s financial affairs to the public. This visibility, however, has been somewhat obscured by Khanna\u2019s decision to file his financial disclosures in the old analog format, effectively rendering it immune to a thorough examination without the use of sophisticated data analysis tools.<\/p>\n

In 2024, Khanna\u2019s financial disclosures clocked in at 333 pages of non-text-searchable tables, listing over 3,000 individual assets owned by him, his wife, and his children, with each asset having ticked one of 13 available boxes corresponding to an asset valuation range. Put together, those assets are worth anywhere from $103 million to more than $340 million, according to a Free Beacon review.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The Free Beacon\u2019s<\/em> investigation was based on Khanna\u2019s financial disclosures, real estate records, and court filings.<\/p>\n

While the presidential hopeful has positioned himself as a progressive critic of wealth hoarding, billionaires, hedge funds, and stock trading by officials,\u00a0 these disclosures show heavy family involvement in similar vehicles.<\/p>\n

Just last week, the centimillionaire congressman posed as a working class hero on social media,\u00a0 stating there must be a \u201cdemocratic check on \u2018blind economic forces\u2019 and \u2018blindly selfish men\u2019 seeking to hoard this nation\u2019s wealth and power.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere must be some check to rampant speculation, monopolization, and war profiteering where the capital class builds fortunes in its sleep, but nurses, teachers, doctors, firefighters, carpenters, HVAC technicians who work long days can\u2019t afford to even buy a house,\u201d Khanna opined on X.<\/p>\n

The California Democrat was reacting to the June 19 edition of the \u201cAll In\u201d Podcast, where cohost David Friedberg had stated that progressives in power want to seize the means of production,\u00a0 control education, and control the media, like a Politburo.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Politburo is the leaders who elect themselves to dictate the flow of the economy, the allocation of capital, what work individuals are allowed to do, and what activities they\u2019re allowed to do in an unfree society, which is what they\u2019re creating,\u201d Friedberg declared.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are the true oligarchs,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd this is Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and Ro Khanna.\u201d<\/p>\n
