The Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team has fulfilled a pledge it made to support families affected by last year\u2019s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids with a $1.1 million dollar donation.<\/p>\n

Fox News reports that the team\u2019s involvement in off-field immigration policy stems from a claim made in June 2025 that the organization had denied ICE agents access to parking at Dodger Stadium.<\/p>\n

That claim was later walked back after ICE revealed that its agents were never sent to Dodger Stadium and that some agents had briefly parked their cars at the stadium as they prepared to move to a different location.<\/p>\n

According to the LA Times, one day later, the team announced that it would donate $1 million \u201ctoward direct financial assistance for families of immigrants impacted by recent events in the region\u201d in response to the earlier ICE raids.<\/p>\n

In total, the Dodgers donated $1.1 million, representatives for California Community Foundation and Labor Community Services\u2014the two nonprofits that received the funds.<\/p>\n

Labor Community Services Executive Director Norma L\u00f3pez said in a statement to The Times, \u201cThe Dodgers\u2019 generous donation has enabled us to reach and assist more families throughout Los Angeles County with dignity and compassion, providing critical food assistance at a time when it is needed most.\u201d<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Labor Community Services said no other pro sports team outside the Dodgers made a similar donation to help impacted immigrant families.<\/p>\n

According to KTLA, the team was under\u00a0pressure from religious, labor, and community leaders\u00a0who urged the Dodgers to take a public stance after Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol operations sparked protests across Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

\nThe LA Times reports that last August, there was also a petition urging Dodgers owner Mark Walter to sell his company\u2019s stake in ICE jails and deportation flights.<\/p>\n

Guggenheim Partners had owned more than $12 million in shares of private prison operator Geo Group. As of March, Guggenheim Partners no longer held any shares in the company.<\/p>\n
