An illegal alien from India with an outstanding warrant for wire fraud was issued a commercial driver’s license (CDL) by the sanctuary state of New York, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Simranpal Singh was taken into custody on September 4, during a commercial vehicle inspection in Newberry, Pennsylvania, after an ICE officer with Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Philadelphia determined that he was an illegal alien from India, a DHS spokesman told American Greatness.
At the time of his arrest, Singh had an outstanding warrant for wire fraud and wire fraud conspiracy out of the Middle District of Pennsylvania, DHS said.
American Greatness was told Singh will remain in ICE custody pending transfer to the U.S. Marshals Service. ICE will resume custody upon the completion of the criminal case, and he will be given due process through pending removal proceedings.
Singh illegally entered the United States through Arizona in June 2022 and was arrested by the U.S. Border Patrol, DHS told American Greatness. He was subsequently released into the country by the Biden Administration.
“This illegal alien not only had a CDL from the sanctuary state of New York, but he also had an outstanding warrant for wire fraud,” said DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin. “This is the result of the disastrous open-border policies of the Biden Administration and the sanctuary policies of Kathy Hochul’s New York. Thankfully, the brave men and women of ICE have taken this criminal off our roads, saving American lives. Sanctuary politicians must stop these reckless policies that put American lives in danger. DHS will never apologize for removing illegal aliens from our roadways and making America safe again.”
Under Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul, New York’s sanctuary policies have had disastrous consequences, DHS said.

· In March, ICE arrested Sukhdev Singh, an illegal alien from India, after he caused a crash while driving a semi-truck that left a U.S. citizen hospitalized in critical condition in Indianapolis, Indiana. Singh had been given a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) by Hochul’s New York.
· In October 2025, ICE arrested Anmol Anmol, an illegal alien from India, in Oklahoma. Hochul’s New York had given Anmol a CDL that listed him as “No Name Given Anmol.”
· In August 2023, New York Police Department (NYPD) officers arrested Jose Antonio Ibarra, an illegal alien from Venezuela and Tren de Aragua gang member, for recklessly driving a motorcycle with a 2-year-old child who was not wearing a helmet. He was released due to New York’s sanctuary policies, and six months later, Ibarra went on to murder nursing student Laken Riley in Georgia in February 2024.
The Trump administration has prioritized removing unlicensed and/or untrained drivers from U.S. roads following multiple fatal crashes involving non-citizen truckers.
Hundreds of fraudulent truck-driving schools and more than 800 dangerous truckers have been removed amid ongoing operations, the Department of Transportation (DOT) and DHS announced last month.
