A Canadian woman living in New Jersey is in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and facing deportation after she allegedly slapped a teenage girl for wearing patriotic, Trump-branded sweatpants on the boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach.

On the 4th of July, Kaitlyn Tracey, 33, reportedly confronted a group of minors on the boardwalk who were wearing pro-Trump clothing. She recorded herself berating them and striking the victim across the face and body.
The Point Pleasant Beach Police Department described the altercation in a press release on July 13.
The female suspect began yelling at the female juvenile over patriotic colored sweatpants with political wording. The female suspect was then seen on video striking the juvenile female, once to the body and once to the face, with an open hand. The female suspect then left the scene without being identified.
After an investigation done by PPBPD Detective Bureau, this agency was able to identify Kaitlyn Tracey of Allenhurst, NJ as the suspect for this incident, on 7/6/26. At that time Ms. Tracey was charged with Simple Assault (2C:12-1A(1)), Endangering the Welfare of a Child (2C:24-4A(2)), Harassment (2C:33-4A) and Obstruction (2C:29-1A) by Detective Korey McCormack of the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department.
Commenters on the since-removed video reportedly said the teen was wearing Trump-branded pants.
Surveillance footage and social media posts helped police identify Tracey, who entered the U.S. in 2024 and was living in Asbury Park with her husband, Matthew Geroni.
She is currently detained at the Delaney Hall immigration facility in Newark and is scheduled to appear in court on August 4, 2026.
Geroni posted on TikTok a video of himself despairing over her arrest and saying through tears: “I need help… my wife is being detained by ICE.” He begged for money, saying he needed to hire an immigration attorney, blubbering “I don’t have any money, I am so f-cking broke.”
The husband said he initially launched a GoFundMe to help get his wife out of ICE detention, but the fundraiser was pulled down after it was reported.

The couple appear to be prolific posters of anti-Trump, anti-Republican content on TikTok.
Geroni previously posted a video on TikTok “wishing cancer on every member of President Trump’s family, including his youngest grandchildren, while dancing to George Michael’s Faith.”
He also previously posted an anti-ICE video slamming the Delaney Hall immigration Center, the very same facility where his wife is now being held.
Geroni also made multiple videos gleefully celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk. He was reportedly fired after the repulsive videos were reported to his employer.
Additionally, Geroni’s social media pages include videos of himself hoping for the death of ailing Republican Senator Mitch McConnell, who has been in the hospital.
In one previous video, Tracey talks about how she and her husband are “trying to get their lives back together,” trying to “get jobs, trying to get a house.”
“We have yet to do either one,” she added with a laugh.
Geroni said in a video this week that Tracey turned herself in to police after learning there was a warrant out for her arrest.
“I don’t care what your opinions are of me or the situation,” he said. “That’s kind of irrelevant, the only thing that matters is her safety.”

Tracey is due to appear in court on August 4, court records show.
