Marxist Mayor Zohran Mamdani was heckled and booed off stage Tuesday night while attending a pro-police celebration on Staten Island.
Loud boos and jeers erupted from the crowd as Mamdani tried to deliver his remarks, forcing him to cut short his speech. The mayor left the stage after speaking for less than a minute.
“It’s a pleasure to be here, I want to say thank you …” Mamdani began amid loud and lusty boos and a barrage of insults such as “you suck!”
About 3,500 residents and families attended the New York Police Department’s 43rd “Patrol Borough National Night Out Against Crime” event, according to local reports.
The event featured activities such as bounce houses, rock climbing, and interactions with NYPD mounted officers, alongside representatives from over 170 city and state agencies.

Mamdani’s far-left policies, including his proposal to slash $22 million from the NYPD budget, have attracted strong local opposition, particularly in the law enforcement community. The hostile reception contrasted with the otherwise festive atmosphere, highlighting the borough’s conservative leanings and strong opposition to communism.
The community’s hostility toward the mayor also manifested itself back in January, when Mamdani was loudly booed and heckled out of a Staten Island restaurant.
Staten Island is the most conservative borough in New York City, although it maintains a higher number of registered Democrats than Republicans. As of February 2024, 39.72 percent of registered voters were Democrats compared to 31.46 percent who vote Republican.
New York’s 11th congressional district, which covers Staten Island and portions of southern Brooklyn, is represented in the U.S. Congress by Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, a Republican.
