Congress managed to avoid a government shutdown before the midterms by passing a stopgap funding measure to keep the government open through December 11. The vote kicked the can down the road and the funding process will begin again in a few months with a bunch of lame duck lawmakers making decisions. Merry Christmas.
The House Democrat freaks did not disappoint yesterday as 192 of them voted against a resolution condemning socialism. Democrats claim the resolution was partisan because supporting socialism has been mainstreamed into the Democrat Party platform courtesy of the younger, radicalized Democrat base. Republicans now have a clean roll-call vote they can use in competitive races this fall. Socialism is on the ballot.
Iran’s terrorist government continues to threaten commercial shipping in the Straight of Hormuz. The U.S. launched more strikes in response to their threats and Iran responded with missiles and drones targeting U.S. positions in the region.

The Russians are getting punchy. Vladimir Putin has publicly pledged continued support for Iran’s terror regime as the Germans accused Russia of attempting an explosives-laden drone attack at a major airport. Putin is probably not worried the EUnuchs in NATO will take any direct action in response.
In Massachusetts, geriatric Sen. Ed Markey easily defeated a younger Democrat challenger, suggesting that Democrat voters may talk about wanting generational change but aren’t necessarily eager to push out one of their fossilized longtime progressive incumbents. Meanwhile, Trump nominated combat veteran Hung Cao to permanently lead the Navy at a time when prolonged deployments tied to the Iran conflict are putting pressure on ships, sailors and military readiness.
