Two minutes of hate:
Domestic issues are starting to look especially important for the midterm landscape. Some Republicans are openly pushing back on Trump’s support for rapid AI data-center expansion because voters are worried about higher electricity bills and local development. The astroturfed campaign against data centers, certainly foreign by foreign adversaries with an intrest in crippling US innovation, has been particularly effective.

Mortgage rates are moving back toward 7 percent, their highest level of 2026, adding to the affordability problem plaguing America.

Additionally, a pretty wild Gallup poll finding: 89 percent of Americans now say corruption is widespread in the federal government, suggesting that distrust of Washington may be one of the few issues voters across the political spectrum still broadly agree on. The results show that Democrats are feeding the increase which is no surprise because the Trump deranged media is obsessively focused on Trump’s “corruption” and the lefties that orient themselves according to the New York Times’ dictates are just parroting what they read. I would bet Republicans who say that corruption is widespread are referring to all the disclosures of Biden-era shenanigans the Trump administration has revealed.

Trump continues to fight on several political fronts, including a Supreme Court battle over new mail-ballot rules. The administration is seeking permission to implement new Postal Service requirements for mail ballots before November’s midterms. The Democrats are very worried about mail ballot transparency because they get a substantial amount of electoral help via curious performance with mail ballot voting. There was a redistricting setback in Missouri, with the state’s supreme court ruling that a Republican-drawn congressional map cannot be used in the November midterms without first going before voters in a statewide referendum. Republicans are concerned about whether Trump is spending enough money to protect vulnerable GOP candidates before the midterms.
