Elon Musk’s America PAC is pouring hundreds of thousands of dollars into key congressional races ahead of the midterm elections, including nearly $250,000 to help Republican Ken Paxton defeat Democrat James Talarico in the closely watched Texas Senate race.

Between Aug. 19 and Aug. 31, the political action committee spent approximately $125,000 supporting Paxton, the Texas attorney general, while spending another $123,000 opposing Talarico, according to federal campaign finance filings reported by Fox News.
The spending is part of more than $800,000 America PAC poured into supporting Republican candidates and opposing Democrats during the 12-day period.
Musk’s group is also getting involved in the Maine Senate race, spending approximately $135,000 opposing Democratic nominee Troy Jackson and another $35,000 supporting incumbent Republican Sen. Susan Collins.
America PAC reported additional expenditures in Senate contests in Michigan, Ohio and New Hampshire, along with several House races in New York, Florida and Wisconsin.

The spending provides an early indication of where Musk’s political operation sees opportunities to influence control of Congress in November.
Much of the money went toward printing expenses through Storytellers Group, a political consulting firm specializing in direct-mail campaigns.
The new expenditures also make clear that Musk’s political operation remains heavily engaged in helping Republicans in competitive congressional races, with the billionaire’s PAC targeting Democrats while providing direct support to GOP nominees in several states.
