Trump delivered the surprise announcement of the Republican convention Wednesday night, promising a $5,000 “Trump Dividend” to adult U.S. citizens if Republicans retain both chambers of Congress. I expect plenty of wailing and lamenting from the left over Trump’s offer but how is this different than Democrats campaigning on social welfare programs promising healthcare, free childcare or college loan forgiveness? The big difference is that Trump would give the money to individuals to spend instead of creating and funneling money right back into the big government apparatus. As you know, the Democrats social programs support and expand the government, while traditionally, the Republicans prefer to let individuals make their own decisions about how to spend their money. The Democrats campaign promises are really welfare programs for bureaucrats.
Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania appeared in a prerecorded video at the GOP convention, praising Republican Sen. Dave McCormick and promising to work with Trump to defend Pennsylvania’s steel industry. Ever since the Obama administration, the Democrats have treated Republican politicians as enemies and demonized and isolated them, but the government is still supposed to work. Why shouldn’t Fetterman work with Trump to help the steel industry, the only people hurt by icing out the sitting president of the United States are the workers and the steel industry and for what? For the Democrats to have a rallying cry and an enemy to engage their psychologically fragile wine moms and gender goblins. So I ask again, what does this Fetterman hate accomplish?

AI researcher Jacob Coxon, who worked at both OpenAI and Anthropic, resigned from Anthropic and warned that leading AI companies are racing toward self-improving superintelligence without adequate safeguards. Coxon’s newly found fame and celebration is highly suspicious as documented here by Parker Thayer. He writes the sudden adulation of Coxon looks like a “VERY sophisticated and well-funded PR operation to get support for Democrats to regulate AI into oblivion.” Go read the X thread and remember, most of what you read on social media is the same kind of campaign: well-funded operations either foreign or domestic, to influence public opinion and is not offered in good faith. The left wants to regulate AI and the left wants to be the one to regulate AI. That’s their plan, they aren’t really worried about artificial intelligence as much as they are worried they won’t control it.
