Woke One may have been “crazy,” but it did teach us two crucial lessons.
One: You can never, ever be woke enough. Just ask progressive comic Amy Schumer, who made back-to-back comedies that got skewered by the woke mob—Snatched (2017) and I Feel Pretty (2018).

Two? Never apologize. It only emboldens the mob. Roseanne Barr swiftly apologized after her racially charged tweet mocking Valerie Jarrett in 2018. ABC fired her anyway and killed off her character on a show she created back in the late 1980s.
Apology definitely not accepted.
So you can’t say Ed Sheeran didn’t see it coming. The pop superstar inexplicably hired Macklemore to open his current tour. The rapper quickly turned Sheeran’s stage into an anti-Israel screed, a pose that had nothing to do with Sheeran’s positive, apolitical brand.
Macklemore didn’t care. So, when one of those screeds got Robert Kraft’s attention, the New England mogul directed Gillette Stadium, where the Sheeran tour was set to play, to block Macklemore from performing.
And, according to the rapper’s account, Kraft leaned on other venues to make the same demand.
Now, Sheeran was stuck. He had to let Macklemore go, but he still felt the need to address the situation from his concert stage pulpit. So he two-sided it, blasting Hamas for Oct. 7 but spending far more time falsely suggesting Israel was committing genocide against the Palestinians.
Sheeran’s attempt to Switzerland his way out of trouble only made things worse. The singer broke down in tears along the way, a move that only impressed Jimmy Kimmel.
Now, an Irish radio station has banned his music, and the mostly peaceful pro-Palestinian mob has him in its sights. He lost his other opening acts as well as his backing band, which all joined Team Macklemore.

And the blowback has only begun. He even lost Greta Thunberg!
When the woke mob, which overlaps with the Pro-Palestinian types all too well, smells blood, it only grows stronger.

The singer should have followed the J.K. Rowling model. The Harry Potter scribe enraged the woke mob in 2020 by saying she didn’t agree with every tenet of trans ideology. Rowling was and is progressive, and she wished no ill will on trans people. She spoke with love and compassion, but differing from the movement in any way put a target on her back.
It’s still there on the British author’s back. The Left and the media, but we repeat ourselves, now loathe Rowling. They always will.
The difference? She lives life on her own terms, refusing to bow down or apologize. She’s still in the Harry Potter business, with HBO Max prepping a reboot of her beloved books on the small screen.
It might be the most anticipated TV series in years.
The mob will never stop raging against her, but she ignores it and embraces her success (and counts the silly numbers in her bank account). Sheeran could and should do the same. He’s still packing stadiums, after all, and the voices who suddenly despise him remain small in number.
Ignore them. Don’t feed them. And, for heaven’s sake, don’t ever apologize to them. Maybe next time he’ll realize the error of his ways.
