Celebrities and Election Integrity: It’s Complicated

Celebrities have raged against President Donald Trump for too many reasons to count.

One recurring theme is mocking the real estate mogul for claiming the 2020 election was stolen out from under him.

Late-night types have endlessly teased Trump for the allegations. Stars echoed the Legacy Media line in 2020, claiming in near-unison that it was the most secure election in history.

Now, two prominent stars claim President Trump is prepping to steal the next election. Proof? Only their TDS-addled brain cells—which isn’t saying much.

Avengers star Mark Ruffalo, who has replaced Sean Penn as the most outspoken celebrity activist, raged on the topic at a recent Hands Off Our Vote event in New York City.

Ruffalo played the one card we’ll likely see a lot of in a post-Trump political scene. Blame Elon Musk. (Word has it the new Musk documentary will only make this worse.) The tech bro is the new bogeyman for Leftists like Ruffalo, who see a conspiracy around every corner.

That helps to explain this screed.

We need to be on guard for what we may not see coming: Elon … that’s the cybersecurity of these elections. And while I’m not an expert, I’ve been talking to experts. And the one thing I’ve heard repeatedly is that there is a vulnerability of the votes when they’re transferred from the polling places to the county headquarters and then to the states.

Musk Derangement Syndrome is the new TDS, apparently.

Hollywood legend Robert De Niro would like a word, too, on election conspiracies. The far-Left actor has stomped on his legacy as a beloved actor with petulant Trump bashing over the last decade. Recently, he accused Team Trump of manipulating elections.

How? What evidence? When? To paraphrase Animal House: “Forget it. He’s rolling.”

They can’t get support from the voters. So what do they do? They try to take our votes away. Are you kidding me? … And when that coward, that f—ing piece of s—, Donald Trump, tries to take our voice and power away, what do we tell him? Keep your f—ing hands off our vote!

Even the far-Left USA Today, which treated De Niro’s charges of voter suppression seriously in its headline, mentioned two measures the Trump administration is supporting to help secure national elections.

Except a few of De Niro’s celebrity pals are against one of those steps.

Some celebrities have spent the last year savaging the SAVE Act, a measure that would bring real election integrity to the country. For liberal stars, “show your ID” is like flashing garlic at a vampire.

The wizened Cyndi Lauper used her fading clout to push Democrats to oppose the measure.

Don’t be fooled. The SAVE Act is not about protecting against voter fraud—it’s about voter suppression. Congress is trying to pass the SAVE Act to make it harder to vote, especially for millions of women.

‘90s rockers Pearl Jam shared a similar message, as did Elizabeth Banks and three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep. The Devil Wears Prada 2 star awkwardly shoehorned that message into a chat with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show.

Well, which is it? Do we want election integrity or not? And is it un-American to question the nation’s voting process or not?

To Hollywood, the answer is shockingly consistent. It depends upon what our current political need is, thank you very much.
