“While Americans enjoyed the Columbus Day weekend, the brave patriots of ICE were on the frontlines arresting the worst of the worst from our communities, including murderers, pedophiles, rapists, drug traffickers, drunk drivers, and other public safety threats,” said Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin. “Despite sanctuary politicians protecting illegal aliens and refusing to honor ICE detainers, ICE will never stop hunting down, arresting, and removing these criminals from America’s streets.”
The four arrests in New York over the weekend were conducted with no help from Mayor Mamdani and Governor Hochul.
New York authorities have refused to honor more than 16,000 federal immigration detainer requests involving illegal immigrants accused or convicted of heinous crimes, according to newly released Department of Homeland Security data.
There are 52,503 total criminal charges and convictions associated with the detainers that were not honored, including 131 homicides, 132 kidnappings and 1,017 sexual offenses, the data shows.
The Department of Homeland Security’s “Worst of Worst” (WOW) website currently displays more than 40,000 profiles of criminal illegal aliens with serious convictions.
