A Michigan Democrat Party staffer claimed on hidden video that U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed receives illegal overseas donations and is reluctant to denounce Islamic terrorist groups because that would alienate his base.
O’Keefe Media Group (OMG) went undercover in Detroit, Michigan, and spoke with Democrat staffer Abdoul Beckwith, an alleged regional field organizer for Abdul for Senate.
Beckwith told the OMG journalist that El-Sayed receives donations from overseas, saying: “You know, he [Abdul El Sayed] has people from overseas that donate to him.” When asked whether overseas donations were prohibited, Beckwith responded, “No it is not allowed,” suggesting that the donations being accepted are from foreign nationals, rather than American citizens.
Under 52 U.S.C. § 30121, foreign nationals are prohibited from contributing to political campaigns in the United States. However, U.S. citizens living abroad may legally contribute.
“People overseas give money to him and then he gives money to you,” Beckwith added. “It’s that type of thing. Everybody does it!”
During a car ride with the OMG undercover journalist, Beckwith opened up about El-Sayed’s refusal to denounce Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, saying: “He [Abdul El Sayed] can’t just say, you know, no, I don’t support Hamas, you know, I reject all of them, because he’s going to lose the people that brought him up in the first place.” He added: “He [El-Sayed] has to play the game. He has to play the role.”
El-Sayed has a long history of support for the Muslim Brotherhood, as well as family ties to the U.S. designated terrorist group. His super PAC and campaign has reportedly taken more than $670,000 from Hamas-linked donors and groups. Hamas was designated as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO) by the United States in October 1997.
When questioned specifically about the Muslim Brotherhood, Beckwith claimed that denouncing the organization could alienate Muslim supporters, stating: “So that’s the whole thing. So when Abdul is going to denounce that [Muslim Brotherhood], they’re [Muslims] going to think that he is siding with the genociders.”
Beckwith also told the OMG journalist that he was concerned that El-Sayed could adopt the “mannerisms” of the white and Jewish liberals supporting his campaign.
“There’s a lot of white people around him—a lot of Jewish people around him. And when you’re around a certain group of people for so long, you absorb the ideology, the mannerisms, everything like that,” he dished.
Beckwith predicted that if elected, El-Sayed would quickly abandon his base.
“They’re [Whites & Jews] going to hijack him and then in a year he’s going to be doing what they want with him,” he said. When asked if he thought El-Sayed would abandon his promises, Beckwith responded, “I think, yeah.”
Beckwith also made a stunning allegation about Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson, stating: “I know Jocelyn works for the KKK.” He repeated, “She works for the KKK. For the Ku Klux Klan.”
In a bizarre twist, Beckwith recalled a previous encounter with Project Veritas during the 2020 Georgia Senate runoff campaign. “He had a backpack, but on his backpack, you could see a camera lens. You could see the red light of the camera lens.”
“Beckwith was talking about me to another undercover journalist who works for me!” Project Veritas and OMG founder James O’Keefe marveled. “And our hidden camera was recording the whole time.”
The Michigan Democratic Party issued a statement late Monday afternoon in response to the undercover video, saying Beckwith had no knowledge of the El-Sayed Campaign’s internal operations, his claims were “categorically false” and that he had been terminated from his position.
The El-Sayed Campaign likewise said in a statement that Beckwith’s comments were “untrue, wildly misinformed and not reflective of the campaign,” and insisted they are in full compliance with Federal Election Commission (FEC) regulations. The campaign also denied that Beckwith had ever worked for them, saying “the junior staffer has never been employed by the Abdul For Senate Campaign.”
