Iranians dressed in black waved Iranian flags and held posters of Khamenei as his body was transferred by truck through packed streets toward the Shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad.
Khamenei was killed at age 86 in an Israeli air strike on Feb. 28, ending his 37-year rule.
“Hey TRUMP, we will Kill You,” one banner read.
Another sign, which featured an image of a raised fist, said “WE WILL KILL TRUMP.”
A sign, held by “Youth of Africa,” simply stated, “Kill Trump.”
Mourners also chanted revenge slogans against Trump and stoned a poster of the president.
One sign shared a $1 million bounty for the assassination of President Trump.
Meanwhile, Khamenei’s son and successor, Mojtaba Khamenei, has not appeared publicly since the February airstrike. Iran’s new supreme leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei,
According to Iranian sources, the younger Khamenei, who was appointed Supreme Leader after his father’s death, was badly wounded in the attack.
He has allegedly issued written statements, but no public video, image or voice recording have been forthcoming.
The president acknowledged Wednesday that Iranian death threats have been a major concern for his administration.

“I’m number one on the kill list for Iran,” Trump told reporters during a press conference at the conclusion of the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey.
“I like being number one on TikTok better,” he added.
Trump dismissed speculation that he was not flying home from Turkey on his new Qatar-gifted Air Force One because of security concerns.
He told reporters the reason he was not flying on the new Air Force One was because he wanted the plane to visit several U.S. military bases so troops could see it.
The Iran war re-ignited this week, with U.S. forces striking roughly 90 Iranian military targets.
The operation was reportedly aimed at protecting commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump officially declared the Iran ceasefire “over” Wednesday after Tehran attacked commercial vessels.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Trump spoke by phone Thursday evening about the renewed U.S.-Iran military conflict. They reportedly agreed to continue coordination between the U.S. and Israel across multiple fronts.
