On the domestic front, there was a shooting in the shithole country of Minneapolis, but not enough information is known yet to politicize it beyond the standard “we need gun control” messaging. Once we learn about the shooter, it will either be an act of white supremacy, an unhinged trans goblin, or one of Biden’s new American illegals. Three people are dead, including the suspect, and five others wounded according to authorities. Three police officers were shot and are receiving medical treatment.
Trump is pushing hard on immigration, but a federal judge has once again blocked his effort to limit birthright citizenship claiming the order was “almost certainly unconstitutional.” It’s already against federal visa rules to issue a visa when the tourist’s reason for trying to enter the United States is to drop an anchor baby. At the same time, the administration is looking at cutting federal money to sanctuary cities and states that refuse to cooperate with immigration enforcement. Sanctuary cities and states argue that they don’t “know” an individual is in the country illegally, mostly because they don’t ask or require that information. Even if the feds have informed the state and local governments that an individual is here illegally, the still don’t know, you know?
The Trump administration is siding with OpenAI and Microsoft in their copyright fight with The New York Times, arguing that America cannot afford to hamstring AI development while China races ahead. The Times is opposing the AI companies claim of “fair use” to train their products with Times’ tabloid propaganda. Garbage in, garbage out.
The U.S. is getting more international support for its complaints about China’s flood of cheap exports, which could give Trump more leverage on trade. Nineteen of the 20 countries at the G20 conference criticized trade imbalances and waves of artificially cheap exports from China. Remember when “made in China” was a punchline?

In the culture wars, the left is freaking out again because a prominent sculpture was removed from the Kennedy Center. Trump is serious about reshaping the cultural institutions long dominated by the left. The left has been on a decades long tear to make everything as ugly as possible and letting existing structures rot and atrophy.
Internationally, Tehran is now firing missiles and drones toward Kuwait and Bahrain so they pressure Trump into making nice with the IRGC. Meanwhile, the Pentagon is keeping a major U.S. force in the region well into 2027. Pull up a chair and make yourself comfortable.
