The gunman, who identifies as “Allison” Howlett, planned to commit a mass shooting at a casino “using a huge cache of weapons,” the New York Post reported.

Howlett’s exwife, called police Saturday morning to report that he had stolen her car, which contained multiple firearms, according to Henderson Police Chief Reggie Rader.
The woman reportedly told police Howlett, 36, wanted to commit “suicide by cop” and/or carry out a mass shooting.
She was able to track her stolen car on her phone, helping cops find where it was parked in a garage at Sunset Station hotel, Rader said during a press briefing Tuesday.
As officers approached the vehicle, Howlett blasted music over the car’s stereo, refused commands to exit, and asked for a drink of water.
Video of the ensuring interaction shows an officer offering approaching the vehicle and offering Howlett a bottle of water.
As he reached for the bottle through the driver’s side window, about six more officers appeared to pull him out of the car.
“No, no, no dude! Dude, no!” Howlett cried as an officer grabbed one of his hands. “Okay, Okay I’ll get out!”
“Officers were eventually able to establish communication and convince her to roll down her window during negotiations,” said Rader, referring to Howlett as a female.
“When she asked for water, the quick-thinking officers developed a plan to take her into custody as an opportunity arose when she reached for the water,” he explained. “Officers used that moment to gain control of her hands and remove her from the vehicle.”
Rader said cops had to stun Howlett with a Taser as he resisted being taken into custody.
While searching his vehicle, officers found a handgun and an MP5 submachine gun in the back seat.

They went on to recover “22 other guns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition,” police said. “As you can see from these photos, there were multiple handguns, multiple rifles, and a variety of firearm related equipment. ”

Thirty more firearms—including automatic rifles, plus ammo, grenade launcher attachments and silencers—were found during a search of Howlett’s home in Henderson, Las Vegas.

Howlett allegedly has a history of making threats, including a 2024 call where he threatened a mass shooting.
“I swear to God, if the FBI doesn’t come f-cking arrest me, there’s gonna be a f-cking mass shooting,” Howlett can be heard saying in a recording of the call played at Tuesday’s briefing.
“There’s one day you’re gonna be pissing me the f— off, and it’s gonna be the last f—— straw,” he added.
