In a pre-dawn raid Monday morning, Federal agents executed a judicially authorized search warrant at Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-Minn.) Washington, D.C., home, removing multiple boxes from the premises.

The operation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security, under a warrant secured by the Department of Justice. According to a Fox News source, the action is part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation into Omar’s immigration paperwork, which was filled out by her late father when she was a child.
“Today in the Washington, D.C. area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice,” a Department of Justice spokesperson told Fox. “This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation,” the spokesperson added.
In a statement posted on social media, Omar said that’s she’s “ok,” before lashing out at the Trump administration for targeting her.
“Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement,” she stated on X. “For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.”
White House border czar Tom Homan confirmed the investigation last month, telling Fox News, “I know things are going on, but I can’t give specifics of what’s happening.”
Homan said Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was examining allegations that have circulated for years and needed “to be looked at.”
He explained that federal law allows the government to pursue denaturalization when it’s proven that citizenship was obtained through fraud or material misrepresentation, but he did not say such proceedings had been initiated against Omar.
“Denaturalization is a process,” Homan said at the time. “It’s a very serious process.”
During her tenure in Congress, Omar has faced allegations that she married her brother in 2009 to help him obtain US citizenship through the fraudulent marriage.
Last December, Homan told Newsmax host Rob Schmitt that a top fraud investigator with HSI told him there was “no doubt” immigration fraud was committed in Omar’s case, but the statute of limitations “became an issue in the last four years.”
Vice President JD Vance has also previously stated the administration believed Omar committed immigration fraud.
“Ilhan Omar definitely committed immigration fraud against the United States of America,” Vance told podcaster Benny Johnson back in March. “She has been at the center of a lot of the worst fraudsters at the center of the Somali community,” the VP added.

Back in May, the founder of the corrupt nonprofit Feeding Our Future, accused Omar of being aware of and perhaps facilitating the $250 million pandemic-era fraud scheme that exploited federal child nutrition funds. In a jailhouse interview with The New York Post, Aimee Bock, who was convicted in March 2025 on charges of conspiracy, bribery, and wire fraud, said Omar “would personally step in” whenever waivers easing oversight of federal programs expired, to allow rampant fraud to continue.
President Trump has made his thoughts on Omar abundantly clear on multiple occasions, saying in December 2025 that she married her brother, and “she should get the hell out.”
Omar has denied allegations of immigration fraud, and her Chief of Staff called the claims a “ridiculous lie.”
The Somali congresswoman’s suspicious financial disclosures have also been heavily scrutinized in recent months, with the both the House Oversight Committee and the Department of Justice to launching investigations in January.
In 2024, Omar reported that her husband possessed between $6 million and $30 million in assets.
But a more recent 2025 financial disclosure report showed a revised value of shared assets between her and husband to sit at a maximum of $125,000, a difference of about 29.9 million from the previous year, according to Fox News..
The lower estimate of their assets, $20,000, compared to the low and high debt estimates, $30,000 and $100,000, would imply the Minnesota Democrat could have a negative net worth.
Both she and her husband have separate debts, each ranging somewhere between $15,000 and $50,000 — from her own student loans and her husband’s credit card debt, according to the disclosures.
Omar has repeatedly refused to explain the disclosures.
In a Jan. 26 post on Truth Social, Trump confirmed that the Justice Department and Congress were “looking at ‘Congresswoman’ Illhan Omar, who left Somalia with NOTHING, and is now reportedly worth more than 44 Million Dollars. Time will tell all.”
As for the House Oversight Committee investigation, a Republican source stated “We are investigating all politicians potentially connected to any of this [fraud] in Minnesota.”
The House of Representatives voted to remove Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee on a party-line vote in February 2023 over the many alleged anti-Semitic statements she has made over the years in regard to Israel.
