Notoriously Woke James Talarico Stumbles Through CNN Town Hall, Posing Unconvincingly as Moderate

U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico (D-Texas) stumbled through a 90-minute CNN townhall Wednesday night, desperately dissembling about his radical left-wing record.

The Democrat posed as a moderate on issues like abortion, border security, and Texas energy as he faced questions from Democrat, Republican, and independent voters. At one point, he admitted he was just being “provocative” when he said God was transgender to justify child mutilation.

Talarico tried to claim he’s a big supporter of oil and gas, despite proposing a climate bill in 2021 that would have crushed the oil and gas industry.

“I’m campaigning on an ‘all the above’ energy strategy that includes oil and gas,” he said. “I want to protect the good-paying oil and gas jobs that support whole families across the state and I want us to invest in the energy sources of the future.”

The Texas Climate Action Act, dubbed the “Texas’ Green New Deal,” would have mandated steep cuts to greenhouse gas emissions statewide, wiping out energy jobs in the state. The bill set statewide goals to cut emissions to 50 percent below 1990 levels by 2030, with further reduction goals by 2050. Critics said it would have eliminated up to two million Texas jobs.

Now posing as a border hawk, Talarico claimed in a “stunning” ad released this week “I called out Joe Biden for failing us on the border.”

However, despite being asked repeatedly, he was unable to provide a single instance where he criticized Biden’s open border policies during his presidency. In fact, in 2023, Talarico voted against border-security bill HR712, which appropriated $5.1 billion for border security operations, including $1.5 billion for border-barrier infrastructure.

Moreover, when Talerico was in the Texas House, he called to fully defund border security in Texas.

In a 2019 interview with The Austin Chronicle, the Texas Democrat said he wanted to take the $800 million Texas spends per biennium for “increased border security” and put it toward public education.

Talarico has reportedly referred to illegal aliens in Texas as his constituents and labeled Gov. Greg Abbott’s border security policies as “atrocities,” accusing him of “hunting” illegal immigrants.

Meanwhile, he routinely refers to Immigration and Customs Enforcement as a “secret police force” that needs to be torn down and replaced. Talarico said it again to CNN host Erin Burnett Wednesday night, while insisting “we need Immigration and Customs Enforcement in this country, but that’s not what we’re seeing.”

“We don’t want masked men in unmarked vehicles coming through and terrorizing our communities,” he said.

The National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) blasted Talarico in a statement on X Wednesday evening, saying his open border policies would “lead to the destruction of America as we know it.”

“JAMES TALARICO DOES NOT SUPPORT BORDER SECURITY: Talarico’s false claim that he called out the Biden Administration for failing on the border is nothing more than a #FakeNews political ad,” the NBPC posted.

He voted AGAINST creating a Border Protection Unit and he has called for “pathways” to citizenship, aka “AMNESTY” for illegal aliens. At least 25 million illegal aliens invaded the US during the 4 years of the disastrous Biden Administration and openly advocating for pathways to citizenship is NOT putting America First and will lead to the destruction of America as we know it. We CANNOT afford another disaster on our borders!

Talerico feigned ignorance when asked about the “Save America Act,” telling a retired U.S. Navy chief he doesn’t know the details of the legislation. However, he trashed the bill during an interview in August, saying “so many black Americans have fought and died” for the right to vote. “With the SAVE Act, they are trying to rob our neighbors, strictly our black neighbors, of those God given rights,” he declared.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), an author of the SAVE Act reacted angrily to the prevarication on X.

“Talarico lied to this man’s face. He’s on the record fully aware of the bill and called Voter ID efforts racist,” Roy posted. “Talarico would no doubt break from millions of Texans who support Voter ID and align with Schumer in a heartbeat,” he added. “Don’t buy it.”

Talarico also said he was running to ban gerrymandering in every state in the country so we can have actual free and fair elections. However, according to the Republican National Committee, the Democrat violated Texas election law by using his mother’s address when he ran for office so he could run in a deep blue district he didn’t live in.

Before the night was over, Talerico had laughed off his infamous assertion that “God is transgender,” saying he was being intentionally “provocative” when he made the blasphemous claim.

“When I said that I was being provocative and I want to admit that and come clean about that,” he laughed.

“Mocking God as ‘nonbinary’ to be provocative isn’t cute, dude. It’s gross,” reacted Spencer Pratt, former Republican candidate for los Angeles mayor, on X. “These commie freaks wear your morality like a skin suit and mock your faith like it’s nothing but their political cudgel. Really slimy behavior from Talarico.”

When confronted by Jody, a pro-life Catholic about his stance on abortion, Talarico claimed that the Bible “is silent” on the issue and waxed on about how he respects pro-lifers and thinks we can “find common ground” on the issue.

Jody politely let him finish, before totally dismantling his argument.

“I just want to add that the Bible is not silent on abortion,” she said. “There is the Ten Commandments: ‘Thou shalt not kill.’’’

“And as Catholics, we take great, um, insult, I guess sometimes when it’s spouted that way,” Jody added, as the audience erupted in applause.

“I don’t know why Talarico keeps saying the bible is ambiguous on abortion,” commented Megan McCain, daughter of late Republican Senator John McCain, on X. “It is the most woke, asinine, illogical talking point and he continues to sound like an asshole when he repeats it.”

In a previous interview with Joe Rogan, Talarico went further, actually arguing that the bible has “some subtle instructions for how to perform an abortion in the ancient world.”

The Democrat’s bizarre religious takes should not come as a surprise since the Christian church he attends in Austin is apparently made up of mostly agnostics and atheists.

Babs Miller, 83, a lesbian minister at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church told an undercover journalist, last month: “If you polled our members and asked if they were Christian, agnostic or atheist, the vast majority would say agnostic or atheist, she said, “because they don’t buy the religion that we inven—that we got from the Puritans.”

Miller was also caught on tape admitting that the far-left Democrat has been deceptively shifting his positions to trick moderate Texans into voting for him.

“I can guarantee you that once he gets elected, he’ll change his tune back to where he was,” Miller said.
