Trump said he reached the agreement during a discussion with Russian President Vladimir Putin, with shipments expected to begin immediately.
“I have just concluded a highly successful discussion with President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, wherein it was agreed that Russia will immediately supply over 300,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel to the American and Global Marketplace, another 500,000 Tons during the month of November, and 1,000,000 Tons immediately thereafter,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
The president said Russia would subsequently provide an additional 3 million tons of diesel, bringing the total promised supply to more than 4.8 million tons. He did not specify when the final shipment would arrive.
Trump expressed confidence that the agreement, combined with U.S. control of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, would help bring down diesel prices.
“Between our total control of the Strait of Hormuz, and this great announcement on Russian Energy, Diesel Prices for Americans and, indeed, the World, will be coming down in record numbers, and fast,” Trump wrote.

“Lower prices for Americans, especially our Great Farmers, Ranchers, and Truckers, is my Greatest Priority,” he added.
The announcement comes as elevated fuel prices, partly driven by the ongoing conflict involving Iran, continue to contribute to inflation and strain household and business budgets.
Diesel costs are particularly important to the agricultural and transportation industries, where higher fuel expenses can increase the cost of producing and delivering goods.
With the November midterm elections approaching, energy affordability remains a significant political issue for Republicans seeking to demonstrate progress on the economy.
